What are LottoStar lotteries?

LottoStar lotteries are LottoStar's own exclusive, uniquely designed draws. They are not traditional lotteries and are not the South African National Lottery. You place a fixed-odds bet on a LottoStar draw, the draws run 24/7, and winnings are paid out instantly, with payouts of up to R10 million.

Alongside the draws, LottoStar offers Slotteries, its own hybrid of slots and lotteries. This guide explains both, how they differ from the national lottery, where to find your results and how to place a bet step by step.

How LottoStar's own draws work

Every game on LottoStar is a fixed-odds betting event, and the Lotteries section is no exception. Instead of buying a ticket into a shared prize pool, you place a bet on a LottoStar-designed draw. Your possible payout is set by the odds when you place the bet, not by how many other people played.

Because LottoStar runs the draws itself, you do not have to wait for a set evening draw. The Lotteries are available around the clock and pay out instantly, so you know your outcome soon after the draw. The draws carry international-style names, but they are LottoStar's own games.

  • Fortune Frenzy
  • Mzansi Millions
  • USA Powerball Max
  • Hong Kong King
  • Japanese Supreme
  • Argentinian Express
  • Spanish Bonanza
  • Chile Grande
  • Mexican Millions
Good to know: payouts of up to R10 million are the ceiling on the Lotteries, not a typical win. Each draw has its own bet options and odds, so check them on the game page before you bet.

LottoStar Slotteries: slots meet lottery balls

Slotteries are exclusive to LottoStar. They combine a slot game with a lottery theme: the reels use numbered lottery balls as symbols, and the games carry big prizes LottoStar calls "Slotpots". You can bet on them any time, and they play at slot speed rather than draw speed.

If you enjoy the feel of picking numbers but prefer the pace of a slot, Slotteries sit neatly between the two. Some titles also come in Prive versions.

  • Africa Millions
  • Africa Millions Prive
  • Kwaito Kween
  • Lucky Lobola
  • Lucky Lobola Prive
  • Mega Millions Supreme
  • Mega Sena Plus
  • Rapid Super Ena
  • Royal Macao Prive
  • Blazing Hot Fruit
  • Set Forever

Lotteries or Slotteries: which suits you?

Choose the Lotteries if you like the classic routine of picking numbers and waiting for a draw, with one clear result per bet. Choose Slotteries if you would rather spin, see the balls land on the reels and play several rounds in a short session. Both are fixed-odds games, so neither is "better" for your chances; the difference is pace and style. Faster games mean more bets per minute, so a Slottery session can use up a budget quicker than a few draw bets.

LottoStar vs the South African National Lottery

The South African National Lottery is run by Ithuba under the National Lotteries Commission (NLC). LottoStar is a separate, privately owned bookmaker licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator. The two work in different ways, and it helps to know which one you are playing.

There is also some history here. On 31 August 2021, the High Court in Mbombela, in a case brought by the NLC and Ithuba, declared LottoStar's betting on the outcome of lottery draws unlawful under the Lotteries Act and interdicted it from offering such bets. LottoStar said it would appeal; we found no public record of the appeal outcome. Today LottoStar presents its Lotteries as its own draws rather than bets on other lotteries. Our is LottoStar legit review covers the licence and the judgment in more detail.

Where to find LottoStar results

Because LottoStar's draws are its own, the results you need are LottoStar's, not the national lottery's. Searching for national lottery numbers will not tell you whether your LottoStar bet won.

  • On the game page: the outcome of each draw or Slottery round is shown in the game itself once it is complete.
  • In your account: your bet history records the bets you placed and whether they won, which is the most reliable place to check past results.
  • In your wallet: winnings are paid out instantly, so your balance updates once a winning result is settled.

The exact layout can change as LottoStar updates its site, so if you cannot find something, LottoStar's 24/7 LiveChat can point you to it. Make sure you are signed in first; our LottoStar login guide helps if you are locked out.

Play Credit balances are always withdrawable. LottoStar processes withdrawals every weekday at 07h00, with no processing on weekends or public holidays, and FICA documents are mandatory for withdrawals over R25,000. Our LottoStar withdrawal guide explains the five payout methods.

Fixed odds explained in plain terms

Fixed odds means the payout for a winning bet is agreed at the moment you place it. If the odds for an outcome are set so that a R10 bet returns a certain amount, that is what you are paid if it comes in, no matter how many other players bet on the same draw.

This is different from a pool-based lottery, where the jackpot is shared and depends on ticket sales. It also means the odds are built so that LottoStar, like any bookmaker, has an edge over time. Bigger possible payouts come with lower chances of winning, so a R10 million result is very rare.

Tip: compare the odds across a few draws before you play. A game with smaller top prizes may give you more frequent, smaller wins, which can make a budget last longer.

Playing LottoStar lotteries responsibly

Draws that run 24/7 with instant results make it easy to keep going. Decide on a budget before you start, stick to it, and never bet to win back losses. LottoStar is for players aged 18 and over.
